Why Oakville parents pick Gamers Getaway
More than a thousand GTA parties in, we know what makes a game truck party work: a Game Coach who keeps the rotation fair, games that suit the age group, and a setup that doesn't take over your house. You might hear it called a game truck, a gaming truck or a video game bus; in Oakville it's the same trailer and the same crew.

Team parties and year-end celebrations in Oakville
Hockey, soccer and basketball teams make great game truck groups. Fifteen players fit at once, the Game Coach can run a team tournament, and one family can host it on their driveway instead of the team splitting a venue bill across the roster.
For a full team plus siblings, the 3-hour package gives everyone a real turn. It works just as well for class parties and year-end celebrations in June.

Oakville neighbourhoods we cover
We bring the truck anywhere in Oakville at the same flat travel rate, from Bronte and Old Oakville up to Glen Abbey, River Oaks and the newer north Oakville neighbourhoods. Driveways in Glen Abbey, River Oaks, Joshua Creek and Eastlake take the trailer easily; the older streets in Kerr Village and around downtown, and some of the newer townhouse streets in north Oakville can be tighter, in which case we park curbside. That covers every Oakville postal code, L6H to L6M.
Schools, parks and community events in Oakville
We bring the truck to school fun fairs and PA days for the Halton District School Board and the Halton Catholic District School Board. Community and camp days at spots like Coronation Park, Glen Abbey Community Centre, Iroquois Ridge Community Centre and Sixteen Mile Sports Complex work well too; the Town of Oakville handles vehicle access in its parks, so check that first. How an Oakville party runs
- Book online. Pick a package and a start time from the live calendar. Only genuinely open slots show, so whatever you can select is yours.
- We arrive 20–30 minutes early and set up on your driveway or the street outside. Your booked time is all gaming time.
- A Game Coach runs the party from start to finish, sorting teams, swapping players in and out and keeping everyone playing.
- We pack up and go. Nothing to clean, nothing to return, no gear left in your garage.
Comparing a game truck to an Oakville party place
Most Oakville parents weigh a game truck against a trampoline park, bowling or an indoor playground. Here's the difference in practice.
| Video game truck | Party venue | |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Your driveway or street | Everyone drives there |
| Start time | Any open slot you pick | The venue's schedule |
| Weather | Climate-controlled, rain or shine | Fine indoors |
| Clean-up | None, we pack up and leave | Depends on the venue |
Video game truck questions from Oakville parents
What does a video game truck rental cost in Oakville?
Packages start at $429 for 90 minutes, $479 for two hours and $629 for three, plus a flat travel charge to Oakville and HST. The travel rate is the same wherever you are in town. The exact total for your date, travel included, shows on the booking page before you pay anything.
Will the truck fit in an Oakville driveway?
Almost always. We need about 30 to 32 feet, roughly three car lengths, on a reasonably flat surface. Most driveways in Glen Abbey, River Oaks, Joshua Creek and Eastlake take it comfortably. The older streets in Kerr Village and around downtown, and some of the newer townhouse streets in north Oakville can be tighter, in which case we park curbside instead. Send us a photo of the spot beforehand if you're unsure and we'll confirm.
Can we book the game truck for a team party in Oakville?
Yes. Fifteen can play at once and the Game Coach rotates the rest, so a full hockey or soccer roster gets plenty of time. Host it on a team family's driveway, or at a park with the town's permission.
Can you come to an Oakville school, park or community centre?
Yes, and we do a lot of them: fun fairs, PA days, graduations and camp activity days for schools in the Halton District School Board and the Halton Catholic District School Board. For an Oakville park or community centre, such as Coronation Park, Glen Abbey Community Centre, Iroquois Ridge Community Centre or Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, check with the Town of Oakville about vehicle access first; for a school, the principal or board facilities office can approve the spot. We provide insurance certificates on request. We bring our own power, so a field with no outlet is not a problem. See our school events page for how school bookings work.
What happens if it rains on party day?
Yes. The gaming happens inside a heated and air-conditioned trailer, so a rainy afternoon, a heat wave or a January birthday all run the same way. Keep a towel by the door for wet shoes and you're set.
Do I need to provide power or Wi-Fi?
No. We bring our own generator and our own internet, so nothing gets plugged into your house and the truck can park anywhere with enough flat space.
How far ahead should I book in Oakville?
Weekend afternoons from April to October go first, so aim for three to four weeks ahead for those. Weeknights and the winter months are easier, often with a week's notice. The booking calendar only shows open slots, so you'll see straight away what's still free.
What age is a video game truck party best for?
Six to sixteen is the sweet spot, and most Oakville birthdays we run are eight to thirteen. Younger groups do fine because the Game Coach picks simpler titles like Mario Kart, Minecraft and Just Dance and keeps the rotation moving. We also run adult and corporate bookings, where the sports and retro games get the most play.
What's an easy birthday party idea in Oakville?
The usual options are trampoline parks, indoor playgrounds, bowling and booking a room at an Oakville community centre. They work, but you're on the venue's clock, you have to get everyone there, and you're often cleaning up afterwards. A video game truck comes to your address instead, so there's no venue to book, no driving and nothing to tidy when it leaves. For more, see our birthday ideas by age.
Do you serve the rest of Halton Region?
We do. Burlington and Milton, along with neighbouring Mississauga are all regular stops, each with their own travel rate. Pick your city on the booking form and the fee is worked out for you.
